Most powerful particle accelerator - This exposure was taken from the 16th floor of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) at Illinois. The Tevatron is 6,562 ft in diameter and contains two accelerators, one above the other. The top accelerator uses ordinary magnets and accelerates protons to 150 GeV.
